The ALS Association of Central Ohio is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in the Central Ohio area. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, ultimately leading to muscle weakness, paralysis, and difficulty speaking, swallowing, and breathing.

Alissa Henry talked to Amy Hall, Event Fundraising and Engagement Manager, ALS Ohio about how they’re actively involved in providing support, resources, and advocacy for people with ALS and their families. They offer a variety of services, including support groups, care consultations, equipment loan programs, and educational resources to help individuals and families navigate the challenges of living with ALS.

If you’re interested in getting involved, there are several ways to support the ALS Association of Central Ohio. You can make a donation, volunteer your time, or participate in one of their fundraising events. Every dollar raised goes towards supporting people with ALS in Central Ohio and advancing research towards a cure.

They have events going on all the time, but two big ones coming up soon are:

  • 1) May 11 – Enjoy a beverage at Seventh Son Brewing Co! $1 for every Kittypaw Seltzer and their beer will come back to the ALS Central Ohio Chapter- ALL DAY!
  • 2) May 16 – Fun at Star Lanes! 10% of bowling, arcade, show rental, food, and non-alcoholic beverages comes back to support our Chapter!
